Circa Biotech is a pioneer in food waste management and the region’s first waste-to-feed project, aimed at creating a circular economy by utilizing industrial insect farming to upcycle organic waste into protein-rich animal feed and organic fertilizer.

Speaking on the sidelines of the SME Excellence Awards 2023, Dr Haythem Riahi, Founder and CEO of Circa Biotech said that food waste is one of the biggest challenges humanity is facing, as one-third of the food produced for human consumption is wasted.

Dr Riahi added: "Worst than that, this food is dumped in landfills which generate methane which is also a greenhouse gas."
