Masdar’s ČIBUK 1 wind farm is the largest utility-scale commercial wind project in Serbia and the Western Balkans, comprising of 158MW.
Located 50KM west of the capital Belgrade, the wind farm provides clean energy to 113,000 homes and displaces more than 370,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year, in addition to providing vital support to nearby communities.
Rade Roganovic, General Manager of ČIBUK 1 said: “From the first start of the construction of the windfarm, we have undertaken more than 100 projects with the local community.
"By providing donations and equipment to schools and medical centers in the communities around Čibuk, Masdar has been able to not only increase the quality of education, but also provide much needed medical care to help those in need of critical care.
"Local hospitals have been supported in terms of equipping them to do “more than they were able to previously."

Across medical centers in the Čibuk local communities, Masdar’s contributions are powering change, such as the replacement of old medical equipment with the latest innovative technology.

“Serbia is a strategic market for Masdar, as well as a hub into central and eastern Europe,” he added.
Under the joint ownership of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), Mubadala Investment Company (Mubadala), and Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA), Masdar is targeting a renewable energy portfolio capacity of at least 100 gigawatts (GW) by 2030.
