On the occasion of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's state visit to France, the Office of the UAE Envoy for Climate Change and the Government of France signed a memorandum of understanding to maximise benefits of climate action.

The MoU was signed by Dr Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and UAE Special Envoy for Climate Change, and Agnès Pannier-Runacher, French Minister of Energy Transition.

The MoU intends to maximise the social and economic benefits of climate action and raise ambition for the implementation of the Paris Agreement, as well as support for the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP28) which will be hosted at Dubai Expo City in 2023.

"More than 15 years ago, the UAE placed climate action at the centre of its economic growth and diversification strategy, while contributing innovative and practical solutions to one of the world’s greatest challenges.

"We have demonstrated this commitment to climate action as the first country in the region to sign and ratify the Paris Agreement, and the first to commit to an economy-wide emissions reduction," said Dr Sultan Al Jaber".
