Shaping Promising Digital Future Requires Global Synergy: UAE Minister

H.E. Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, said that shaping a promising digital future requires greater cooperation, as well as new partnerships in the digital sector, to create opportunities for sustainable growth.

The minister made the remarks while participating in the G20 Digital Ministers' Meeting hosted by Indonesia ahead of the start of the Digital Transformation Expo during G20 Summit, which will showcase the UAE’s experience in strengthening its digital infrastructure.

Al Olama stated that promoting cooperation in the digital sector is a priority of the UAE Government.

He noted that the focus on the digital economy, which is one of the priorities of the G20, underscores the global plans to harness all potential and tools to address relevant challenges and achieve the best outcome.

He also highlighted the UAE Government’s flexibility and its plans to implement programmes and draft innovative projects aimed at strengthening and investing in the digital economy, to improve the quality of life of the community.

Al Olama then explained the UAE’s Digital Economy Strategy, which aims to double the contribution of the digital economy to the country’s non-oil GDP by 2031.

In addition to Spain, the Netherlands and Singapore, the UAE is one of four countries that were invited to attend the 17th G20 Heads of State and Government Summit that will take place in 2022 on 15-16 November in Bali.
