Sustainability is The Right Thing, Take Care of Nature: Group CEO, DSV
The importance of nature cannot be underestimated and it means a lot to me. In a way it makes me feel ashamed, the way we have treated nature, said Jens Bjørn Andersen, Group CEO, DSV A/S.
In a pre-recorded video, Anderson posted on his LinkedIn page on Sunday, he said, "I think it is time we do something about it, we as business leaders have a big obligation to do what we can."
"I’m often being asked what the driving force behind our focus on sustainability is at DSV - Global Transport and Logistics. My answer is always the same: We focus on sustainability because I want to. Because it’s the right thing to do."
"We need to take care of nature, not least for the sake of the next generations."
Anderson shares his personal reflections on nature. "Why it’s so important to me personally and why it is our shared responsibility at DSV," he said.
"In whatever industry you are in, something can be done."

Anderson continues, "I have a strong sense of urgency for the next generation to deliver something to my children and grandchildren. I think it will be terrible if we are in a situation when our generation is blamed for something left in a terrible state, the day we are not on this planet anymore."
The transportation industry accounts for close to 25% of world's emissions. That alone tells, it is paramount that something needs to be done. "We can play a role in DSV and do something about it."
Technology will be playing a major role in this, ambitious targets have to be set, achieved and lived everyday, he added. "Everybody at DSV will need to play a part if we need to achieve our long-term sustainability goals."
"We need to reduce our CO2 emissions. Its the initiative and efforts of each employee at DSV which really makes a difference. Its one of the biggest journeys we have embarked on."
"Its not easy, but am sure we will get there. It would be great one day to say that we played a role in making the world greener and more sustainable," the DSV Group CEO concluded.
