adidas by Stella McCartney first – Hika Sandal, Made in Part with Sugarcane
adidas by Stella McCartney has unveiled its Spring/Summer 2023 TrueNature collection. The drop blends unique satellite prints with high-performance technologies that have been crafted from natural pigments and fabrics, designed for exploring the world outside.
Paying homage to the great outdoors, the new collection provides a distinct embodiment of the vastness and beauty of nature from above. Hero pieces capture a contemporary take on Earth and weather satellite images, alongside conceptual contours, and ley lines of maps.
Available in bold hues of blue and green to mirror the natural landscape, the tactical silhouettes can be layered for versatility and freedom to move outside.
Giving a voice to the next generation, key pieces in the capsule are also adorned with a typography print featuring wording from the adidas by Stella McCartney manifesto.
With phrases including 'not a reset, but a restart' and 'no compromise', the design symbolises the next generation’s quest and is inspired by the contrast between graphic lettering and ocean weather prints – as seen on the Scuba Shorts.
With leading technologies such as Parley Ocean Plastic and WIND.RDY, the collection has been crafted to protect the next generation of active activists.
Key pieces include the Hika sandal, adidas by Stella McCartney’s first-ever sandal made with natural and renewable materials, and the reimagined Seeulator – designed with a water-repellent textile upper to keep feet warm and dry while exploring.
A range of pieces are also available in inclusive sizing, including the graphic sweatshirt, sweatpants, and running tights.
Exploring new possibilities for performance wear, each piece in the collection has been made in part with recycled materials as part of adidas’ ambition to help end plastic waste.
Speaking about the SS23 TrueNature collection, Stella McCartney said: “Connection to nature is an important part of my life and work, which is why the TrueNature collection is so special to me.
"When crafting this drop, we wanted it to embody the freedom and natural highs you feel when immersed in nature and symbolise how a different point of view can be so captivating.
"I’m also thrilled to introduce our first-ever Hika sandal, which will be core to all summer expeditions. It is this type of unique technical style that makes our collaboration so fresh and exciting – together, we continue to push the boundaries of sport style season after season.”
