According to Tortoise Intelligence's global classification of artificial intelligence (AI), which ranks more than 60 nations, Saudi Arabia came out on top globally in the Government Strategy Index for Artificial Intelligence.
China and Germany took second and third place, respectively. More than 100 indicators totalling the Global Ranking of AI are divided into seven sub-pillars: government strategy, research, development, talent, infrastructure, operating environment, and commercial.
The Kingdom secured the top spot in the total classification indicators released by "Tortoise," a multinational company with a global advisory board made up of experts in artificial intelligence from all over the world, and came in first place in the Government Strategy Index for Artificial Intelligence.
IBM, Saudi Arabia Agency Partner on AI for Sustainability
Saudi Arabia has achieved a great feat by receiving a perfect score on every index criterion relating to artificial intelligence.
This covers things like the creation of the National Strategy for Data and AI (NSDAI) within the Kingdom, the existence of a specific government agency for AI, the distribution of funds and budget for AI initiatives, and the creation and oversight of national AI targets.
The Kingdom has consistently shown a strong dedication to the advancement of artificial intelligence. A Royal Order was issued in 1440 AH to create the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) as the main body in charge of planning, establishing, and managing all AI-related activities.
The SDAIA led the national plans for data and AI to achieve the aspirations of HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Chairman of the SDAIA Board of Directors.
It has worked to develop National Strategy for Data & AI (NSDAI) to unify efforts and launch national initiatives in data and artificial intelligence, and make optimal use of those.
This achievement by the Kingdom aligns with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to position the country prominently in global indicators across various domains.
