The announcement of the Year of Sustainability by the UAE Government has instilled a sense of consciousness in the industrial sector when it comes to carbon counts, said Muhammad Danbappa, Chief Commercial Officer, Ehfaaz Recycling.

Mr Danbappa was speaking as a panellist at the Future of Sustainability Conference, hosted by SME in Dubai on March 9, 2023.

Mr Karl W. Feilder, Host and Moderator at the conference, posed a question on whether businesses are inquisitive about their carbon counts, to which Mr Danbappa replied in the positive:

"With the introduction of the Year of Sustainability, we are seeing, an increase in questions related to carbon counts."

Mr Danbappa added: "We keep perfecting the formula to report the CO2 emissions. Earlier we used the local standards, but now we are coming up with a solution to include the international standards, to give our clients the accurate results."

Ehfaaz aims at simplifying and redefining the recycling landscape in Dubai, he said, and added that once businesses actually see the numbers in terms of CO2 emissions they prevented from getting into the atmosphere, or the amount of water and electricity they saved, the awareness levels are sure to increase.
